The Iranian 3D animation ‘Battle of the Kings: Rostam and Sohrab’ was screened in theaters in the US and South Africa.
Directed by Kianoush Dalvand, the animation is based on the tragic story of ‘Rostam and Sohrab’, a mythical story in Shahnameh (Epic of Kings) by renowned Persian poet Ferdowsi.
The 93-minute animation was previously introduced on the sidelines of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, the Cannes Film Market, in France, MNA reported.
The 2012 Iranian production had been earlier screened in Turkey and several other Middle Eastern countries.
“All technical stages of the production have been carried out in a professional manner and in line with global standards,” said Shafi’ Aqa-Mohammadian, one of the producers. “The film was dubbed in Canada to make it comprehensible for foreign filmgoers,” he added.
The Fantastic Films International (FFI) Company, an American distributor, owns the global distribution rights for the Shahnameh-inspired animation.
