Khosrowshahi Garden in Northern Tehran will officially open to the public in the forthcoming weeks, according to Khalil Rahati, managing director of Tehran Municipality’s Development of Cultural Spaces Company.

“After refurbishment of the main grounds and summerhouse, the complex will be inaugurated by the end of spring,” ISNA quoted him as saying.

Khosrowshahi Garden (a large mansion in the midst of a beautiful green expanse) together with Amir-Soleimani Garden, were planned to be restored and turned into the Revolution Garden Museum in 30,000 square meters in the capital’s Jamaran neighborhood.

The complex also has a roofed theater hall as well as one amphitheater that jointly can host 260 people for semiprofessional performances and conferences. Construction of the halls is currently drawing to an end and the entire project restoration will be finalized by the end of June.

“We have tried to preserve the garden’s structure while embellishing its Iranian elements as a reminder of old gardens of Persia so that it provides a modern space for social interaction,” said Rahati.

The garden’s total area is 12,396 sq meters with 3,552 sq meters of inbuilt area. Its revival will facilitate cultural and social exchange, breathe life into the neighborhood’s identify, and meet touristic demands.

The long-desolate garden belonged to a private firm owner from Tehran. It was relinquished to District 1 Municipality in 2012 to function as a public recreational area.
