Mexican Ambassador to Tehran Ulises Canchola Gutierrez expressed delight over Isfahan sponsoring a water festival, and hoped that nations around the globe will follow suit keeping in mind the global water scarcity dilemma.
“Sponsoring the water festival is both an interesting and an important move,” said the ambassador addressing the closing ceremony of the 2nd National Festival on Films, Photographs and Manifestations of Water held at Isfahan’s Kowsar Hotel on Thursday.
He said Iran and Mexico share many common problems, such as water scarcity, and festivals like this one can contribute “to culture building on optimizing water usage as a national and international responsibility,” IRNA reported.
He highlighted the right choice of films and photographs as the main themes of the national festival, noting that “these arts can play an effective role in promoting the right culture of water usage.”
A total of 2000 photos and 248 feature, documentary, and animated films from 581 artists were submitted to the festival secretariat this year, of which the selection committee chose 124 photos, 22 feature films, 33 documentaries, and 17 animations to be displayed.
The winners of each section were awarded at the closing ceremony in the presence of provincial, national, and international authorities, the participating photographers and cinematographers and a huge number of enthusiasts.
