Iran Wins Three Awards at Russian Film Festival

The 17th international festival of detective films ‘DetectiveFEST’ concluded last week with Iran winning four awards, including for the best film.
In the section for feature films on detective and law-enforcement themes, the Iranian movie ‘Song of My Land’ directed by Abbas Rafei won the best film award, IRNA reported.
Producer of the film Amir-Hossein Sharifi received the award at the festival closing ceremony.
An Iran-Lebanon 2014 joint production, the movie is the first to depict the crimes of the IS forces in the Middle East. The subject is narrated through a romance between a Muslim man and a Christian woman, which develops after an IS attack on their village in Syria.
The cast include known actors from Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt. Shot in Arabic, the film will be dubbed to Persian for public screening in Iran.
The TV series ‘Seventh Angle’ from Iran also won two other awards in the TV series section of the event. Directed by Mohammad-Ali Sajjadi, it was selected as the best thriller series and actress Sara Sofiani was honored for her role in the serial.
‘Seventh Angle’ tells the story of a bank robbery in Tehran.
The festival held since 1998, is an effort to cultivate conscientious respect for law and its representatives through the medium of cinema and TV. The main goal of the festival was to create a positive image of law representatives, popularize legal obedience and strive for civil society.
