The ‘Swiss Modern Art Posters’ exhibition opened on April 17 in Jalil Shahnaz Hall of the Iranian Artist Forum (IAF) in Tehran, with Swiss Ambassador Giulio Haas participating, indicating that Switzerland is eager to resume cultural interaction with Iran.

Noting that the Swiss school is one of the most prestigious poster design schools globally, Iraj Mirza Alikhani, graphic designer and an organizer of the exhibition said: “Following ‘Poland school’ exhibition in 2013 and ‘Denmark posters’ in 2014, now it is Switzerland’s turn to attract the attention of painters, students and enthusiasts of graphic works to its expo.”

Pointing to the clear concept and technical perfection of Swiss posters, Haas emphasized: “We are honored to hold an exhibition of Stefan Bondy’s works accompanied by his workshop at IAF in January 2016.”

Top Swiss graphic designers, including founders of grid system and poster designers, created the ‘Swiss (typographic) style’ which had “a ground-shaking effect on graphic design in the mid 20th century,” said Ibrahim Haghighi, a graphic designer adding: “Swiss are the most powerful globally in illustration of international typographic style, on which their art is based.”

Cleanliness, readability and objectivity are the characteristics of Swiss graphic design styles.

The exhibition, held in cooperation with the Swiss embassy and the IAF, will run until April 24 at the forum premises at Honar Garden, north Mousavi St., Ayatollah Taleghani Avenue.
