A television film by Iranian director Fereydoun Hassanpour received the special jury award at the Pyongyang International Film Festival.
‘Good Friends’, directed by Hassanpour, is a production of Sima Film which grabbed the special jury award at the 14th edition of the festival, FNA reported.
Some 19 films from different countries including Germany, China, Russia, England, Iran, India and the Philippines participated in the competition section of the festival.
Directed by Ali Shah-Hatami, ‘Cinema Dream’ was another movie from Iran which was shown in the competition section.
Besides the main section, Iran had a strong presence in the out-of-competition section with five more films. ‘A Cold Day’ by Mohammad-Ali Talebi, ‘The Long Night’ by Ali Masoumi, “Flame in the Wind’ by Farhad Mehranfar, ‘Beyond the Fire’ by Kianoush Ayyari, and ‘A Simple Love Story’ by Saman Moghadam were other Iranian movies screened.
A biennial cultural exhibition, held in the capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), the festival aims to create a new ground for films through promoting exchange and cooperation among world filmmakers. ‘Independence, Peace and Friendship’ was chosen as the slogan for this year’s edition, held from September 17 to 24.
