The well-known Polish director Christopher Zanussi and Canadian instructor Jan Miller will attend the international section of the 33rd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) to hold professional workshops on cinema.
On the fourth day of the festival, April 29, Zanussi will hold a workshop titled 'The principles of working with actors, preparing decoupage, modern dramatization, and finding location', the public relations office of the FIFF reported.
Zanussi (born in 1939) is a Polish film and theatre director, producer and screenwriter. A graduate of the prestigious National Film School in Lodz, Poland, he is a professor of European film at the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland.
He has received several prizes and awards including the Jury Prize at the 1980 Cannes Film Festival for the film 'The Constant Factor'.
Pitching Workshop
Jan Miller will hold a pitching workshop, including cash prizes, with the full support of the FIFF and Iranian Cinema Organization.
With over 20 years of experience in the field of teaching pitching (exchanging ideas), her workshop, titled 'how to process a less than 150-word idea into a full 90-page screenplay for sale,' is slated for April 27-28.
Regarding the fact that Iranian talent should be supported and in order to have interaction with universal cinematographers, the workshop will provide young filmmakers, who have a viable movie project or are looking for investors to launch or complete their movie projects, with an opportunity to manage their projects.
Only filmmakers who have previously made at least one movie can participate in this event. The participants will send their ideas to the workshop, of which the top 10 will be given a chance to be challenged directly by the instructor "to clear any probable mistakes."
The nominees, who meet the jury requirements, will be awarded financially for writing the full screenplay and the production process.
This year's FIFF will be held from April 25 to May 2 in Tehran. This is the first time the international section is held separately from the national section (held in February).
