Children’s Orchestra to Perform Shahnameh

‘Iran Zamin’ orchestra, comprising of 120 children, will perform a concert of ‘Shahnameh’ tales on October 9-10.

Shahnameh (Book of Kings) is a great literary work by the Persian poet Ferdowsi. The concert on some of the stories will be performed in 3 acts by the children, MNA reported.
Sudabeh Salem, orchestra director, said the program is slated to take place during Universal Children’s Week in remembrance of war children.
Shahnameh tells heroic Persian tales. The contents and the poet’s style in describing the events takes the reader back to ancient Persia to feel and believe the characters and stories narrated in the book. Ferdowsi worked thirty years on the masterpiece.
Born in Iran in 940 AD, Ferdowsi devoted most of his life to Shahnameh, the world’s longest epic poetry created by a single poet. It is considered to be the national epic of Iran as well as the Persian speaking world.
