300 Children’s Books at Bologna Fair

The 52nd Bologna Children’s Book Fair concluded with the possible attendance of the fair’s exhibition manager at Tehran International Book Fair and the selection of Iran as the fair’s guest of honor.

The Bologna Children’s Book Fair is the most important international event dedicated to children’s publishing and multimedia industry. Iran’s Cultural Fairs Institute (ICFI), affiliated to the ministry of culture and Islamic guidance took part in the fair, showcasing over 300 book titles.

The fair was attended by over 1,200 publishers and exhibitors representing 75 countries from around the world. Iran’s 32-m2 stand, almost doubled compared to last year, made use of the event to network with writers, illustrators and publishers dedicated to children’s literature to familiarize them with the potential of the Iranian children’s literature to be translated and published abroad. It also invited foreign publishers to attend the 28th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) set for May 6-16.

An invitation letter signed by the deputy of TIBF Amir-Masoud Shahramnia was presented to the exhibition manager of Bologna Children’s Book Fair Roberta Chinni, who said that her participation at TIBF would be a great honor and that she would do her best to attend the event.

A session on the potentials of the Iranian children’s literature in the world was also held during the fair. An illustration exhibition, introducing more than 120 Iranian illustrators was another program at the event.

The event is a venue for authors, illustrators, literary agents, licensors and licensees, packagers, distributors, printers, booksellers, and librarians meet to sell and buy copyright, find the works of children’s publishing and multimedia production.

The 52nd  edition of the fair took place from March 30 to April 2, in the Italian city of Bologna.
