The universal expo is the third important international event after the World Cup and the Olympics and is also known as the Olympics of Culture. It is held in a different country every five years and the duration ranges from three weeks to six months.
Expo 2015 will be hosted by Milan in Italy, between May 1 and October 31. The theme chosen for the 2015 Milan Universal Exposition is ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’ and concerns the present and future of Planet Earth. This embraces technology, innovation, culture, traditions and creativity and how they relate to food and diet.
There are seven proposed sub-themes to the expo including science for food safety, security and quality, innovation in the agro food supply chain, technology for agriculture and biodiversity, dietary education, solidarity and cooperation on food, food for better lifestyles, and food in the world’s cultures and ethnic groups.

Due to the great significance of the global event and the effectiveness of posters in social-cultural advertisements, the two ministries have collaborated with Iran International Exhibitions Company and the Institution for Promotion of Contemporary Visual Art, in holding the contest to promote the global event and raise awareness on the Iranian standpoint.
‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life, Global Table, and Iranian Culture’ is the theme of the national contest.
The designers must heed the important messages of the contest, the main theme of Expo 2015, religious beliefs of Iranians regarding food and natural resources, introducing the expo as an event that brings together world civilizations and its role in global development.
The contest prizes include the trip to Milan for participating in Expo 2015 and 10 to 70 million rials ($300 to $2160) to the winners of the first five places. They will also be given an award, a diploma, a participation certificate, and a compilation of nominated posters.
