It usually gets more difficult to commit something to memory as one gets older, but a 60-year-old man in the holy city of Mashhad has challenged this by memorizing 5 Juz’es (sections) of the Holy Qur’an.
Mosayyeb Taheri took part in the national Qur’an Memorization Plan and it took him 9 months to learn the 5 Juz’es by heart, IRNA reported. Taheri, who is an education ministry retiree, says reciting and memorizing the Qur’an brings peace to one’s life and has spiritual benefits. He plans to memorize the entire Qur’an.
The national Qur’an Memorization Plan has been organized by Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization. It will be implemented for four years and aims to train one million Qur’an memorizers in the country.
