The 17th edition of Iran’s International Storytelling Festival opened Monday (Feb. 16) in Kermanshah.

Organized by the Iran Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA), the event is hosting many local and international storytellers, MNA reported.

A total of 59 Iranian storytellers and 12 foreign participants are competing in various sections of this year’s edition including: 31 main storytellers, 1 featured universal, 19 featured library storytellers, 8 featured Razavi Festival storytellers and 12 prominent foreign storytellers.

The international participants are from Colombia, Australia, the United States, Canada, Scotland, Philippines, Kenya, Brazil, Armenia, Lebanon, Syria and Morocco.

A number of programs are set to run, among them honoring promoters of national and provincial storytelling in Iran, holding special workshops, and unveiling selected books.

The 2015 festival will run until February 19.
