Music is the most scientific form of art and such a definition of music “is not an exaggeration,” Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati said in a message to the organizers of the 30th Fajr International Music Festival.
The event promises the commencement of a year “full of innovative works of art and songs performed by Iranian and international music artists,” Mizan news agency quoted the minister as saying.
As a classical form of national arts, music has a long and rich history in Iran, he said, admiring the valuable works in the field by well-known musicians.
Describing the festival as an opportunity for the introduction and elevation of the national art of music, Jannati said the event “is a reflection of the efforts made by musicians, promising rich contribution to the field in the days to come.”
Prestigious
Iran’s most prestigious music festival, founded in 1985, is annually organized during February to celebrate the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The event, which includes national and international competition sections, is usually attended by domestic and foreign artists performing different pieces in various categories like international, folk, and classical music among others.
The first International Fajr Music Festival titled “Revolutionary Songs and Music” held in 1985 saw the participation of 30 groups. The event was considered the first gathering of musicians after the revolution, providing an opportunity to exchange views in the field of music.
