The Prelate of Armenians in Tehran and north Iran Archbishop Sebouh Sarkisian referring to the violent incidents in France last month said “insulting the Holy Prophet of Islam and publication of insulting caricatures is a Zionist plot.”

Archbishop Sarkisian made the remarks in a meeting with head of the Islamic Culture and Communications Organization Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman. The two sides discussed the sixth round of dialogue between Islam and Armenian Orthodox Christianity.

He said the unpleasant situation in Lebanon and Syria has been created by Daesh with “extremism and terrorism in their minds” leading to an unpleasant situation in Lebanon and Syria, reported IRNA.

The US with the cooperation of its agents is responsible for the creation of Daesh and “if we follow up the case seriously we will find the root cause in Israel and Zionism for the publication of sacrilegious caricatures against the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH),” he added.

The sacrilegious caricatures were not only an insult to Islam, but to Christianity as well, he observed, adding that Zionism has always been interested in fighting against Islam and Christianity.

Meanwhile, the ICCO chief underlined religious solidarity among leaders and advocates of divine religions.

“We consider you as part of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization as you have had close contacts from the past to date and this important interaction is constantly increasing,” he told the archbishop.
