17th Children, Young Adults Book Fair Takes off

At a ceremony attended by Iranian children and their families, the 17th Children and Young Adults Book Fair kicked off Saturday (Feb. 7) in Tehran.
According to IBNA, the event is hosted by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults. More than 40 publishers of children books have participated at the fair held to coincide with the 36th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
On the occasion of the fair, several Iranian authors and artists invited Iranian families to buy books in addition to other commodities usually purchased on the eve of the new Iranian year (begins on March 21). At the same time the publication institutes which have participated in the fair announced that they will offer their products at 10 to 15% discount.
Theater performances and film screenings for children are  held on the sidelines of the fair which will run until February 14 in Tehran.
