Following its presence across the globe, the Iranian animation, ‘Dad’s Fragile Doll’, is present at the 16th Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival, Brazil.
Written, directed and produced by Ali Zare-Ghanatnowi, the short animation has entered the competition line-up of the film festival being held from September 19 to 28.
Previously, ‘Dad’s Fragile Doll’ participated in several film festivals across the world. It won the first prize from the Viewster Online Film Festival (VOFF), Switzerland, in July. The animation also took part in some other international festivals including: The 5th International Animation Film Festival (IAFF) Golden Kuker-Sofia, Bulgaria in May; the 9th Athens ANIMFEST, International Animation Festival, Greece, in March; the Green Film Festival in Seoul (GFFIS), South Korea in May; the Cine Curtas Bodega Cultural, Brazil in May.
The animation, a free adaptation of the short story ‘Fragile Doll’ by the well-known Iranian writer Houshang Golshiri, took three years from idea to production.
In ‘Dad’s Fragile Doll’, a girl reconstructs the events leading to her father’s imprisonment and execution using the dolls her mother has made.
