A new mosque and Islamic center ‘Dar-ul-Anwar’ was opened in the city of Rogozhine, Albania, recently.
Dr. Ramiz Zekaj, director general of Islamic Thought and Heritage Institute in Albania, referred to the violations of Muslims’ rights in Albania in the past and said “during the second half of the previous century, the communist regime desecrated mosques and banned Muslims from holding congregational prayers in the country.”
Given that the previous mosque in Rogozhine city was completely ruined, the construction of the new mosque was a necessity for Muslims in the region, he added.
The ceremony was attended by local Muslim representatives, IRNA reported.
