Stocks Tick Slightly Higher

Tehran stocks closed slightly higher on Tuesday amid boost in  demand for shares of banks and mineral and metal companies. 

The main gauge of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, gained 2,716 points or 0.22% to end the session at 1,219,589, amid price surge in large cap shares. 

The TSE equal-weighted index closed slightly below the flatline at 0.02%. It gives the same weight to all shares irrespective of their market cap.  

About 5.6 billion shares valued at 44.98 trillion rials ($179.93 million) changed hands at TSE for the day.

Cement Industries Investment and Development Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 5.43% to 6,410 rials per share.

Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Parsian Oil and Gas Development Group Company, Esfahan Oil Refining Company and MAPNA Group.

Social Security Investment Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Mellat Bank, National Iranian Copper Industries Company and Pardis Petrochemical Company.

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, closed flat, gaining 4.95 points or 0.03%. About 795.05 million securities valued at 50.04 trillion rials ($200.16m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.

Esfahan Steel Company, Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company, Zagros Petrochemical Company and Jahrom Power Plant Development Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Middle East Mines and Mineral Industries Development Holding Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Pasargad Insurance Company and Hormozgan Steel Company.
