Iranian Youth Should Help Accelerate Nat’l Progress

Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that the country's youth, particularly scientific elites, should make continued efforts to help accelerate national progress in various fields.

"Scientific advancements that benefit the country can be made possible with an approach based on revolutionary values and Islamic thinking. Young elites should aim to push the boundaries of science and technology," the Leader was quoted as saying by his website.

He made the comments during a meeting in Tehran with Iranian Olympiad medal winners and Iran's national youth volleyball team that won their first-ever world championship title in July.

Ayatollah Khamenei hailed the achievements made by them and urged them to continue improving their skills and use their capabilities in the best way possible to make even greater contributions to the Islamic Republic.

"The nation and all those loyal to the establishment are proud of your accomplishments," he said.

"Despite all the efforts made since the victory of the Islamic Revolution toward scientific and technological progress, especially in the past 20 years, we still lag a lot in these fields. That is why the most important responsibility of the young elite generation is to push the boundaries of science and technology."

The Leader singled out the field of nanotechnology as one of the most significant areas and called on Iranian scientists to continue exploring the uncharted territories.

Ayatollah Khamenei acknowledged that there are obstacles on the path of scholars in the country, but advised young people to not let problems and challenges disappoint them and prevent them from moving toward their goals.
