Abbas Mousavi was appointed on Saturday as the Foreign Ministry's spokesman to replace Bahram Qasemi who is set to assume the position of top diplomat at the Iranian Embassy in Paris.
Mousavi, who has an MA in international relations, was the director general of the ministry's Press Office before the new appointment, ISNA reported.
He has also held positions in Iranian embassies and consular offices in Hong Kong and the Netherlands, as well as the Center for Public and Media Diplomacy.
Meanwhile, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, the senior assistant to the foreign minister, has been appointed as deputy foreign minister for parliamentary and expatriate affairs.
Before the job, Ansari had worked as a spokesman, deputy for Arab and African affairs and ambassador to Lebanon and Libya.
