Devastating floods swept several provinces across Iran during the past two weeks, claiming the lives of 62 people, according to an official at Iran Legal Medicine Organization.
”Floods killed 21 people in Fars Province and 14 people in Lorestan Province...others were from northern provinces of Golestan and Mazandaran; North Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan, Khouzestan, Hamedan, Semnan, Kermanshah and Kohgilouyeh-Bouyerahmad provinces," Ahmad Shojaei, head of LMO was quoted as saying by FNA.
Heavy rainfall began two weeks ago, overflowing rivers, washing away bridges, inundating houses and destroying infrastructural establishments in 24 provinces of Iran.
The recent flood also caused an estimate of 46.6 trillion rials ($372 million) to agriculture sector, mostly in Golestan, Mazandaran and Khouzestan provinces.
