The goods and services Consumer Price Index in Iran registered a year-on-year increase of 42.3% in the Iranian month of Bahman (Jan. 21-Feb. 19) compared with the similar month of last year.
According to the Statistical Center of Iran, the YOY inflation was the highest in Kurdestan Province with 52.5% for the month. The lowest was in Qom Province with 35.3%, the latest SCI report shows.
CPI calculated for the country (using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year) stood at 158.1 in Bahman, indicating a 2.2% rise compared with the previous month.
The growth in overall CPI compared with the previous month, Dey (Dec. 22, 2018-Jan. 20), was the highest (3.5%) for Yazd Province and lowest (1.6%) for Hormozgan Province.
The average goods and services CPI in the 12-month period ending Feb. 19 increased by 23.5% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Here, Lorestan Province saw the highest average annual inflation with 27.9% while Kerman Province posted the lowest at 18.8%.
Annual inflation gap for all Iranian households among the 31 provinces stood at 9.1% in Bahman, indicating a 0.6% increase compared with the month before.
Urban Households
The overall CPI calculated for urban areas stood at 157.3 in Bahman, indicating a 2.1% rise compared with the previous month.
The monthly inflation rate was the highest (3.5%) for Bushehr Province and lowest (1%) for Kerman Province.
The annual inflation gap for all Iranian households among the 31 provinces stood at 9.1%, indicating a 0.6% increase month-on-month
The index registered a year-on-year increase of 41.5% for urban areas. The YOY rate for Kurdestan Province was the highest with 51.1% and the lowest for Hormozgan Province with 34.7%.
The average goods and services CPI of urban areas in the 12-month period ending Feb. 19 increased by 23.4% compared with last year’s corresponding period.
Ilam registered the highest rate here with 28.2% while Hormozgan posted the lowest at 19.3%.
The annual inflation gap among urban areas of Iranian provinces stood at 8.9% in Bahman, indicating a 1% increase compared with the month before.
Rural Households
CPI calculated for rural areas stood at 162.9 in Bahman, indicating a 2.8% rise compared with the previous month.
The monthly growth was the highest (6.1%) for Kerman Province and lowest (1.5%) for Zanjan Province.
The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 46.7% for rural areas in Bahman.
Kurdestan Province saw the highest CPI rate of 57.4% and Hormozgan Province the lowest at 38.3%.
The average goods and services CPI of rural areas of Iran in the 12-month period ending Feb. 19 increased by 24.2% compared with last year’s corresponding period.
Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province registered the highest average annual inflation for rural areas with 29.5% while Kerman Province posted the lowest at 17.3%.
The annual inflation gap among rural areas of Iranian provinces was at 12.2% in Bahman, indicating a 0.7% increase compared with the month before.
