Mahallat Exports Reach $23m in 9 Months

Around $23 million worth of commodities, including agricultural, mineral and industrial products, were exported from Mahallat County in Markazi Province during the nine months to Dec. 21 to register a 52% growth compared with last year’s corresponding period.

According to Reza Maleki, the head of Mahallat Industries, Mining and Trade Organization, export destinations included Turkey, Qatar, USA, Myanmar, the UAE, Kazakhstan, Japan, China, India, Armenia, Tajikistan, Russia, Kuwait, Oman, Poland, Tanzania, Iraq and Bulgaria.

Maleki also told IRNA that the exports mainly included stones, plants, ornamental fish and industrial soot.

Mahallat is home to 70 active mines with 30 million tons of proven reserves of stones. Each year, 2 million tons of stones are extracted in the country. It boasts of 250 stone processing units.

It has the largest area under the cultivation of flowers and ornamental plants in Markazi Province. 

The province is home to 990,000 hectares of land under cultivation of flowers and ornamental plants, 90% of which belong to Mahallat.

Mahallat has an 18% share in Iran’s land under the cultivation of flowers, 12% in cut flowers, 80% in seasonal flowers, 21% in ornamental trees and shrubs, and 14% in apartment plants.

With a population of 55,000 people, Mahallat is a production hub of flower and ornamental plants, ornamental fish and ornamental stones in Iran.
