More than 46,350 people entered Iran from Turkmenistan through Incheh Borun, Golestan Province’s only land border terminal, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Dec. 21), which shows a 9% decline compared with the similar period of last year.
According to a top military official in charge of guarding the border region, most inbound visitors made a one-day visit to Iran to sell their goods in Incheh Boroun’s border market and purchase the commodities they need to take back to their country, IRNA reported.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Reza Saravani added that 302 Iranians visited the neighboring country during the same period to register a 27% decrease year-on-year.
Iranians, he said, mostly travelled to Turkmenistan to visit their relatives and friends.
