    Iran: Building Permits Issued in Q1 Rise 13% YOY

    The Statistical Center of Iran announced that the number of building permits issued during the first quarter of the current fiscal year that ended on June 21 increased compared with the same period of the year before. 

    According to SCI's latest report, municipalities across Iran’s urban areas issued 34,278 building permits in Q1 to register a 13.1% rise year-on-year.

    The number of permits issued in spring saw a 10.4% decrease though, compared with the previous quarter (Dec. 22, 2017-March 20, 2018).  

    Tehran Municipality, for instance, issued 3,055 building permits in Q1, indicating a year-on-year increase of 34.4% and a quarter-on-quarter increase of 42.1%.

    According to SCI, the number of residential units to be constructed as part of the building permits issued in spring amounted to 90,667 across all urban areas of the country, showing a decline of 2% compared to winter and a 12.4% increase compared to last year's spring. 

    The number of residential units to be built as part of each permit averaged 2.6. 

    In Tehran, the total number of projected residential units to be built following the issuance of the permits in Q1 stood at 19,659, indicating a 30.1% rise compared with the previous quarter and a 31.6% increase YOY. 

    The number of residential units for each permit in Tehran averaged 6.4. 

    Across all Iranian urban areas, the total floor area permitted in these buildings stood at 17,438,000 square meters, indicating a 9% fall compared with the quarter before and a 20% rise YOY. 

    The average floor area of units for each permit was 509 square meters.

    In the capital city Tehran, the total floor area of units permitted in Q1 was 3,537,000 square meters, registering a 29.2% rise compared to the winter and a 32.3% increase compared to last year's spring. 

    The average floor area of units for each permit was 1,158 square meters in Tehran.
