President Hassan Rouhani congratulated Austria on its National Day, voicing Tehran’s readiness to expand constructive relations with Vienna.
In a message on Friday, Rouhani congratulated his Austrian counterpart, Alexander Van der Bellen, on the European country’s National Day, Tasnim News Agency reported.
Hailing the “age-old” and “friendly” relations between the two countries, Rouhani said Iran welcomes constructive interaction with all countries based on mutual respect, particularly with Austria which he described as a “reliable partner in Europe that hosts international institutions”.
“I believe that considering the agreements reached during my visit to Vienna and by employing the existing capacities, relations between the two countries will grow, like in the past, for the fulfillment of mutual interests and promotion of sustainable international peace and security,” he said.
Rouhani paid an official visit to Vienna in July and held meetings with the president and chancellor of Austria.
Officials from the two countries signed four cooperation documents during the trip.
