A local startup is offering on-demand automotive services in Tehran and the northeastern shrine city of Mashhad.
Named "Captain Kar", the company provides emergency auto repairs, maintenance services including battery and brake pad replacement and engine oil change with carwash services at the doorstep.
According to the startup’s website, captainkar.com, the business employs 500 mechanics and technicians. The startup was launched in September.
By bringing the services to the doorstep, the startup can help save precious time usually spent on car repairs and services in the two megacities.
The services are currently offered through the startup’s website, however, company director, Mohammad Mosaddeq, says it will create an application and a call center to help facilitate the services.
For using Captain Kar, those interested need to enter their vehicle information on the website and mention an address where they want the service. The website will calculate the costs and inform the customer.
Carwash services have the significant feature of being environment-friendly. According to the company website, the company employs a cleaning system —supposedly a nano environment-friendly cleaning solution—that significantly reduces the amount of water used for washing cars.
When the nanotechnology-enhanced washing liquid is sprayed onto surfaces, the soap and special lubricants will liquefy and dissolve dirt on contact. The firm also uses nano-towels that pull the dirt off the surface and protect it from scratching.
The method protects the vehicle’s body from damage caused by traditional carwash practices.

This is not the first Iranian startup offering on-demand automotive services. Following the growth of online businesses, several Iranian companies have introduced Internet-based on-demand car repairs and eco-friendly carwash.
Carboy is a car service-hailing startup and application offering carwash and maintenance services in Tehran.
Nano Pak is an on-demand carwash business like Captain Kar and uses nano cleaning solution for washing cars.
Hypertire has started on-demand tire delivery in Tehran. People can order their requirements through its website (hypertire.com) or its application. Tires are delivered in less than three hours.
Gallon offers on-demand battery replacement, oil change, and car wash services -- similar to services provided by Carboy.
