    Tatarstan Keen to Broaden Mutual Ties with Iran

    Tatarstan's President Rostam Minikhanov emphasized the importance of developing relations with Iran and said his government will develop cooperation with Iran in various fields.

    Minikhanov made the statement in an interview with RIA Novosti.

    “Russia and the European Union, unlike the US, have different positions about Iran, and we are focusing on our leadership position,” the president of Tatarstan, which is a federal subject of the Russian Federation, added.

    He said Tatarstan has economic relations with Iran in a wide range of areas, including machinery, technologies and agriculture.

    “We are in touch with Iranian partners and we are working with the country in economic fields,” he added.  

    He noted that there are no restrictions or barriers to bilateral economic ties.

    Minikhanov pointed out that Iran needs food products and the republic is ready to export such products.
