Iran Petrochem Export Revenues Exceed $7b in 6 Months to September 2018

Petrochemical export earnings during the first six months of the current fiscal reached $ 7.4 billion showing a 24% increase compared to the corresponding period last year.

According to Mehr News Agency, the figure shows a rise of 9.4% in volume and 23.9% in value.

The National Petrochemical Company's export amounted to 15.4 million tons between March 21 and September 20 and  accounted for 32.1% of the country's total non-oil export value in the period.

Petrochemical export revenues in 2017 stood at $12 billion, showing a 25% rise compared to $9.5 billion in 2016.

NPC officials say adopting policies to complete the petrochemical value-added chain has helped increase output capacity from 40.6 million tons in 2013 to 54 million tons in 2017.

According to NPC projections, the company's annual nominal output, currently at 60 million tons, will increase by 5 million tons by the end of the current fiscal next March.

NPC said the feedstock supplied to petrochem complexes, namely ethane, rose from 2.7 million tons in 2013 to 4.7 million in 2017 -- an 85% hike over five years.

"Petrochemical output reached close to 27.5 million tons in the period," Qodratollah Farajpour, production manager of NPC said, adding that production of petrochemicals and polymers in the 57 petrochem complexes between March 21 to September 20 increased by 2% compared to the same period a year ago.
