    Speaker Denounces Economic Hostility

Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Saturday that the US is a waging an economic war against Iranian children, women and sick people just like terrorists who attack innocent civilians.

Addressing an Armed Forces parade in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Province, Larijani said “Today the United States leads state-sponsored terrorism wearing a mask of human rights and democracy. However, imposing sanctions against the Iranian people will only bring shame for the US administration,” Mehr News Agency reported.

US leaders have concluded that they cannot fight a military war against Iran so they use other tactics like economic sanctions to reach their goals, he said.

Addressing US powerhouses, he added, “You are not with the Iranian nation… you are fighting an economic war against the Iranian people, children, women and sick people. You act just like terrorists who attack women, children and innocent people.”

Trump’s tactic is to frighten regional states about Iran’s goals and intensions and push them towards Israel, he said.

On May 8, US President Donald Trump pulled out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal signed in 2015 after years of negotiations among Iran and Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany. He reimposed economic sanctions on Iran that were lifted as part of the landmark deal.
