Lack of Int’l Mechanism to End US-Backed Conflicts

A official has criticized international bodies and laws for their insufficiency and incapability to stop the wars and conflicts ignited and abetted by the US and its allies.

“Regional wars have continued as a result of the US and its allies’ support for the clashes and, unfortunately, under the current world conditions, there is no effective mechanism to end these wars,” Deputy Interior Minister Hossein Zolfaqari said at a meeting with Singapore’s Accredited Ambassador to Tehran Ong Keng Yong on Monday, Fars News Agency reported.

He lambasted Washington for its psychological wars and direct and indirect measures against Iran to create instability in the region. “This is while the Americans are aware that Iran is serious about campaign against terrorism, has never been after nuclear weapons and is no threat to any regional state,” Zolfaqari said. For his part, Ong Keng Yong said his country is keen on learning from Iran’s experience in fighting terrorism. He said the two nations have the potential to expand    economic and political relations.  In recent years, the US has fully backed Saudi Arabia in its brutal war against Yemen.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen since March 2015 to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 17,500 Yemenis, including hundreds of innocent women and children.
