Azadi Complex

With its legs far apart, Azadi Tower stands in the middle of Azadi Square on the western tip of Azadi Avenue.

Built in 1971, the tower is part of Azadi Cultural Complex located underneath the square that covers 50,000 square meters.

The complex is akin to an underground town with numerous halls and galleries. Among them is the audiovisual hall where each section represents a different region across the country, introducing its culture, lifestyle, historical monuments and natural scenery.

Azadi Tower, designed by architect Hossein Amanat, combines elements of Islamic and Sassanid (224-651 AD) architecture.
