    Government Recruitment Exam on Friday

As many as 400,000 people have enrolled for Friday’s recruitment exam for public services posts, the head of Administrative and State Recruitment Organization said.

“A total of 18,000 jobs are up for grabs for jobseekers who will sit this exam, suggesting that about 22 people have applied for each post [on average],” Jamshid Ansari was also quoted as saying by ILNA.

Employment by all branches of the government stands at not more than 40,000 annually—30,000 by the executive branch and 10,000 by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and non-governmental public organizations—while over 500,000 graduate from universities annually.”

The number of government employees stood at 2,341,726 in the fiscal 2016-17, registering no significant rise compared with 15 years ago (March 2001-2), the Statistical Center of Iran said. Men and women accounted for 69% and 31% of the total number of public employees in the fiscal 2001-2, but in 2016-175, men constituted 59% and women 41% of civil servants. In 2016-17, 43% of government employees were working for Education Ministry and 18% for Health Ministry while the remaining 39% were employed by other state bodies.
