A lawmaker quoted Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif as saying that officials of the United States irrespective of party affiliations are all trying to harm Iran.
Hossein Naqavi Hosseini in a talk with Tasnim News Agency outlined the main topics discussed during Zarif’s Wednesday meeting with members of a parliamentary group.
US hostility towards the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian administration will never end, the MP quoted Zarif as saying.
The minister was of the belief that the Republicans and Democrats are the same but resort to “different methods” to hurt Iran and its interests.
Regarding efforts to save the 2015 Iran nuclear deal after the US withdrawal, Zarif gave assurances that Tehran would pursue a legal path that would help meet the country’s interests and strengthen efforts for saving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the lawmaker said.
“Zarif said we remain committed to the JCPOA and have worked hard to preserve it. We will prove to the world that the Americans have lied and acted against the deal and blatantly violated an international agreement,” Naghavi Hosseini added.
The Europeans, according to the minister, unlike the past, have not immediately followed the US in imposing sanctions against Iran, and are now standing against Washington, at least in words.
He quoted Zarif as saying that concerted efforts are needed to shatter the false US image and its assumption of Iran’s domestic developments, which has emboldened Washington to think that it can do as it pleases and undermine the Islamic Republic.
“Zarif said everything does not revolve around the US, and warned against promoting this idea,” Naghavi Hosseini said.
“He said the world is not comprised of only the US and we can continue our cooperation with the rest of the world.”
