    Call for Expanding Georgia Ties

    Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani met with the head of Iran-Georgia parliamentary friendship group Shalva Kiknavelidze in Tehran on Saturday and called for improving two-say ties, in particular in economic fields.

    Referring to the long-standing relations between Tehran and Tbilisi, Larijani expressed willingness to expand bilateral ties in the economic fields with Georgia, ISNA reported.

    Kiknavelidze, for his part, expressed happiness with the meetings with Iranian officials, calling for expansion of mutual relations between the two parliaments.

    Kiknavelidze said regular meetings between the two countries’ officials have helped strengthen bilateral relations.

    He referred to the two countries potential in gas projects as well as rail transportation, adding that talks are underway between Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Bulgaria for developing a railroad project connecting the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea.
