Aluminum Output Near 61,000 Tons

Iran’s major aluminum companies produced 60,947 tons of aluminum products during the first two months of the current fiscal year (March 21-May 21), which indicates a 9.7% increase compared with last year’s corresponding period, Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization reported.

Flagship producer Iran Aluminum Company accounted for 30,033 tons of the total figure, followed by Hormozal Aluminum Company with 19,024 tons and Almahdi Aluminum Company with 11,890 tons.

Iran Alumina Company produced 147,498 tons of bauxite during the same period, up 28% year-on-year; 41,523 tons of alumina powder, down 0.1% YOY; 70,589 tons of aluminum hydrate, up 1.7% YOY; and 23,586 tons of lime, up 1% YOY.

Iran has an aluminum nameplate capacity of 457,000 tons per year, of which about 437,000 tons are operational, Metal Bulletin reported.

The country is planning to increase annual production to 1.5 million tons by 2025.
