Painter and sketch artist Morteza Yazdani is showing at Mah Art Gallery in Tehran a series of paintings reflecting his contemplation on ancient Iranian myths.
“Habitat” is Yazdani’s exhibit underway at the gallery till June 1. On display are his sketchy-styled paintings of plants, animals and humans coexisting in ancient times, according to Tandis online magazine of visual art.
Art researcher Mohammad Moeenoddini compares the paintings to the drawings of Italian Renaissance painter and sculptor Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519).
In the paintings, a habitat shared by vegetation, animals and humans seems to be in an ideal ambiance.
Moeenoddini in a note to the exhibit says: “An understanding of the paintings is possible without complex interpretations. The artist has avoided vagueness and makes sure that the visitor understands the concepts.”
The paintings, rendered in warm and harmonic tones, are imbued with deep nostalgia, taking visitors far back into time when humans had not distanced themselves from other creatures.
Mah Art Gallery is located at No.26, Golestan Blvd., Africa Street.
