A total of 770,000 tons of paper, including newsprint, book paper, tissue, packaging paper and cardboard, were produced in Iran in the last fiscal year (March 2017-18), registering a 32% rise compared with the year before, an official with the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade said. Mohammad Ali Esfandiari added that except for newsprint and book paper, all other types of paper experienced significant growth in production last year, IRNA reported. “The production of packaging paper grew by 60% to stand at the unprecedented level of 540,000 tons. Moreover, 100,000 tons of packaging paper were exported last year. Tissue production increased by 37%, as exports hovered around 12,000 tons,” he said.
