Army Needs to Enhance Efficiency, Capability

The Leader welcomed remarks made during the meeting by Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi in which he called for closer cooperation and interaction between the armed forces

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called on Army commanders to double their efforts to expand the efficiency and capabilities of the men under arms.

In a meeting Sunday with commanders of the Army, the Leader said, “Efforts to improve the Army’s progress and capabilities should continue. The Army should become stronger and more efficient,” his official website reported.

Ayatollah Khamenei welcomed remarks made during the meeting by Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi in which he called for close unity and cooperation among the armed forces.

“I admire Mr. Mousavi’s comments that show his managerial insight…This will further raise the credibility of the Army in the eyes of the public,” the Leader said.

Iran’s armed forces are made up of a regular army and Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, both of which have their own branches of ground, navy and air forces.

IRGC is also in charge of the missile program that has made it one of the strongest forces in the region. The force was created during the early years of the eight-year Iraq-Iran war in the 1980s.

During last week ceremonies commemorating Army Day, Mousavi commended the Guard and said, “we all should know that had it not been for the IRGC, the Islamic Revolution would not be existing now. The heroic Army remains committed to its pledge to support the IRGC.”
