Major Iranian automotive companies have participated in Automechanika Istanbul 2018, a world-renowned automobile aftermarket held at Tuyap Convention and Congress Center in Istanbul, Turkey, from April 5 to 8. Local companies attending the event include Iran Khodro and SAIPA through its subsidiaries namely Sazehgostar, Zar Spring Manufacturing Co., SAIPA Wheel, Radiator Iran Manufacturing Co. and SAIPA Glass along with Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company, Azar Powder Metallurgy Company, Foulad Fam Company, Sahand Zob Foundry Co., Cable Varan Company, Teb and Polymer, and Avrand Pishro. The exhibition is a combination of a car show and a trade fair for automotive accessories, spare parts and repair equipment, bringing together managers of various walks of the automotive sector from production and distribution to maintenance, ISNA reported. The first Automechanika was held in 1971 in Frankfurt. The trade fair brand has been exported to a variety of countries in recent years and 17 Automechanika fairs are currently held in 15 countries on four continents. Iranian companies have been a major participant in Automechanika events in recent years as part of a drive to promote exports.
