    E. Azarbaijan Exports Earn Over $1b

    East Azarbaijan Province exported 1.38 million tons of non-oil commodities worth $1.11 billion during the 11 months to Feb. 19, registering an increase of 21% and 30% in value and tonnage respectively compared with last year’s corresponding period, according to Ali-Asghar Abbas-Zadeh, an official with East Azarbaijan Customs Administration.

    The exports mainly included plastic products, fruit and zest, fuel, mineral oils and byproducts, IRNA reported.

    These were exported to 101 countries, including Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Armenia, Georgia, Italy, China and Russia.

    About 447,552 tons of goods worth about $962 million were imported into the northwestern province, down by 8% and 10% in tonnage and value respectively year-on-year.

    The imports mainly included machinery, mechanical devices, wood and wooden products, tobacco, paper and paperboard, electrical equipment and meat.

    Close to 90 countries exported goods to East Azarbaijan during the period, including Turkey, Germany, China, the UAE, Italy, Georgia, Armenia, Japan, Sweden and South Korea.
