Trade between Iran and Sweden stood at over €456.77 million in 2017, registering an 86.15% rise compared with 2016.
This makes the country Iran’s ninth biggest trade partner from among the 28 member states of the European Union over the period after Italy, France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Greece, Belgium and Romania.
Iran’s trade with Sweden in 2017 saw the fourth highest growth among all members of the EU after Croatia, Ireland and Italy.
Iran exported close to €12.9 million worth of commodities to Sweden last year, indicating an 8.11% increase compared with the previous year, based on the latest Eurostat figures shared with Financial Tribune.
Imports of Iran from the European country, on the other hand, amounted to €443.92 million, showing a 90.12% surge year-on-year.
The Swedish-Iranian Chamber of Trade and Commerce organized the First Nordic Iranian Business Summit in Stockholm in November 2017. Hosting companies and delegations from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and other European countries as well as Iran, the event aims to introduce investment opportunities in Iran’s infrastructure, ICT, mining & steel, health & pharmaceuticals, banking & finance, environment and energy.
The joint chamber is a Swedish NGO that promotes trade between Scandinavian countries and emerging markets in Asia.
