Trade between Iran and Romania stood at over €479.7 million in 2017, registering a growth of about 11% compared with 2016. This makes the country Iran’s eighth biggest trade partner from among the 28 member states of the European Union over the period after Italy, France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Greece and Belgium. Iran exported more than €45.95 million worth of goods to Romania last year, indicating a 55.6% fall compared with the previous year, based on the latest Eurostat figures shared with Financial Tribune. This is while Iran’s imports from the European country grew by 31.9% year-on-year to stand at more than €433.45 million. In October, the World Bank estimated that Romania’s economy could rise above its potential in 2017 and 2018, noting that GDP would probably grow by 5.5% in 2017 because of the fiscal stimulus and the improvement of European economy.
