    Joint Committee With Russia to Pursue Projects

    Iran and Russia have set up a joint committee to pursue the implementation of joint projects in energy and railroad industries, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani announced.

    Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Monday evening upon his return from a six-party counterterrorism conference in Pakistan, Larijani said he had the opportunity to hold meetings with his foreign counterparts on the sidelines of the event to discuss economic issues, Tasnim News Agency reported.

    In the meeting with chairman of Russia’s Duma, talks were held on joint projects between Tehran and Moscow and the speaker said the two sides established a joint committee to pursue the projects.

    The parliament speaker also noted that participants in the Islamabad meeting came up with plans to boost economic cooperation to combat poverty in the region and strengthen coordination for joint investments.

    Heading a parliamentary delegation, Larijani joined his counterparts from Pakistan, Russia, China, Turkey and Afghanistan in Islamabad for a two-day meeting to discuss the challenges of fighting terrorism and inter-regional connectivity.
