Thanks to price cuts made possible by the Health Reform Plan, costs of blood transfusion for patients will be halved or even reduced to nothing. The head of Blood Transfusion Organization quoted by ISNA said prior to the Health Reform Plan (launched on May 5) patients had to pay over $400 to get blood transfusion, but now they can almost get it for free. Ali Akbar Pourfathollah added that so far the blood transfusion price cuts have taken place in Tehran Province only, but it will soon extend to other provinces through collaborations between blood transfusion centers and medical schools.
