    Friends, Rivals’ (in Persian: Rofaqa, Roqaba) is a musical comedy rendered in the traditional style of Iranian theater. The play is written and directed by Rouhollah Iraji. It opened August 14 and will run through September 4 at Entezami Hall of Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) each night at 8:30. “At our performances, painting has a significant role. For the current play, paintings recount the story and help establish its meaning,” the director told Mehr News Agency ‘Friends, Rivals’ is about rivalry between two large families in performing the most glorified ceremony of Ta’zieh, a traditional theatrical genre inspired by religious and historical events in Islam.
