Heavy rainfall in the past five days caused flooding in 10 provinces including East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Alborz, Khorasan Razavi, Zanjan, Semnan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Kerman, Hormozgan and Hamedan, according to the head of the Relief and Rescue Organization at Iranian Red Crescent Society. “Some 49 relief teams comprising 319 rescuers were dispatched to the affected cities and villages,” ILNA quoted Morteza Salimi as saying. The teams provided emergency shelters to 500 flood-stricken people in 24 cities and villages and draining of flood waters from residences were undertaken in 11 homes. Also, 21 cars stranded due to the flooding were rescued.
