The annual per capita consumption of seafood in Iran is 8.5 kilograms while global per capita fish consumption is more than 19 kilograms per person, Mehr News Agency quoted Mohammad Pourkazemi, head of the Research Institute of Fisheries Science, as saying.Fish consumption is highest in China and in western industrialized countries. He also pointed to the successful production of trout and said, “The annual domestic production is 140,000 tons, which is 17% of the global production.”
