Austro-Iranian Symphony Orchestra (AISO) will present its spring concert in Tehran, performing pieces by German composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) and Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791).
Vahdat Hall, located on Shahryar Blvd., Hafez St., south of Enqelab Ave., will host the concert on April 18, according to tiwall.com, the website where tickets are available.
The concert starts at 9:30 pm with a repertoire including Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21.
Iranian composer, conductor and pianist Mazyar Younesi, 34, will conduct the concert. Part of his education in singing and conducting has been under the tutelage of Indian composer, conductor and vocalist Vijay Upadhyaya, 65, at Austrian Cultural Forum (OKF, standing for Osterreichisches Kultur Forum), with branches in Tehran and other major cities across the world.
The event is organized under the auspices of OKF. Founded in 1955, it offers German courses and organizes cultural events, including concerts and theaters. OKF in Tehran is where AISO was founded in 2006.
AISO concert features prominent Austrian musician Christiane Karajeva as solo pianist. She will also perform a piano recital on the preceding day, April 17.
Organized by OKF, Karajeva’s recital is to be held at Roudaki Hall, located next to Vahdat Hall. It starts at 9 pm, featuring pieces by Russian composer and pianist Alexander Scriabin (1872-1915), Hungarian composer, virtuoso pianist, conductor and arranger Franz Liszt (1811-1886), Austrian composer Franz Schubert (1797-1828), Russian composer, pianist and conductor Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953) and Austrian composer Helmut Schmidinger, 48.
