A book on scholar, botanist, musician, translator and photographer Hossein Gol-e-Golab (1895-1984), who wrote the patriotic anthem ‘Ey Iran’ in 1944, will be unveiled today (March 12) at Café A gallery in Tehran.
Gol-e-Golab wrote the lyrics of Ey Iran whose music was composed by prominent musician, composer conductor and author Rouhollah Khaleqi (1906-1965).
The book to be unveiled is titled ‘Marze-Porgohar’ (Precious Land), a phrase in the first verse of the anthem. The unveiling ceremony commemorates the death anniversary of Gol-e-Golab on March 13, 1985, ISNA reported.
His daughter Homa will attend the unveiling ceremony, along with documentarian Houman Zarif, 44, who has compiled the book after making a documentary on Gol-e-Golab’s life under the same title ‘Marze-Porgohar’.
Other participants include musician, composer and player of tar and santur Milad Kiaee, 72; scholar, author, poet and researcher in music Ali Reza Pouromid, 57; singer, writer, journalist, cinema and music critic and researcher in music Ali Shirazi, 45; author, poet and journalist Yahya Alavi, 44; and composer and lyricist Sepehr Norouzi.
The book contains 80 unpublished photos of prominent figures in art and literature. It also includes a passage by late poet and lyricist Simin Behbahani (1927-2014) about Gol-e-Golab, her tutor.
The work is brought out by Andisheh-Asr Publication, based in Tehran.
